Moray West Offshore Wind – Transition Pieces

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Moray West Offshore Wind Farm in the Scottish North Sea is an 882 MW project with monopile foundations and transition pieces fabricated by Lamprell at its Hamriyah yard. ACT delivered the full corrosion protection scope on the transition pieces and TP covers — abrasive blasting, paint application, and Thermal Spray Aluminium (TSA) on splash-zone and high-corrosion areas. TSA was applied per ISO 2063 using twin-wire arc spray, followed by sealer and topcoat to complete the system. Each TP was processed under environmental control to meet North Sea offshore-wind durability requirements.

RESULTS & OUTCOME

TPs and covers handed over to Lamprell with a fully certified TSA + coating system suitable for North Sea splash-zone service.

  • TSA bond strength and thickness verified per ISO 2063 acceptance criteria
  • Sealer and topcoat applied within recoat windows on every unit
  • All weld seams and edges receiving full TSA wraparound coverage
  • QA dossier complete and accepted by the client representative
  • TPs released to load-out in line with the offshore installation programme
