NEOM Water Pipeline – SAW Pipe Internal & External Lining

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The NEOM water pipeline programme is a critical component of Saudi Arabia’s giga-project, delivering treated water across NEOM’s developing infrastructure. ACT was engaged by Arcelor Mittal — supplier of the SAW (Submerged Arc Welded) line pipe — to apply specified internal and external lining systems for long-term buried-pipeline service. The scope included internal blast cleaning, internal lining for water service, external surface preparation and external coating for cathodic and mechanical protection. Pipes were processed through ACT’s pipeline coating bays in Hamriyah at the throughput required by the project logistics plan.

RESULTS & OUTCOME

SAW pipe delivered fully lined and externally coated to NEOM/Bechtel specification, ready for site delivery and field welding.

  • Internal lining applied to specified DFT, cured and tested for holiday-free continuity
  • External coating applied to NEOM specification with verified adhesion pull-off values
  • Cutback geometries left clean for site welding and field-joint coating
  • Each pipe individually tagged with QA records for full traceability
  • Met agreed throughput rate enabling continuous load-out to project logistics
