Project Overview

Saudi Aramco’s Safaniya 8 and Hasbah field developments expand production capacity in two of the Kingdom’s most strategic offshore reservoirs. ACT supported main contractor McDermott with surface preparation and protective coating of offshore structural steel, piping and gratings destined for the platforms. The scope covered abrasive blasting to specification, multi-coat application and stage-wise QA/QC across thousands of square metres of fabricated steel. All work was executed at the ACT Hamriyah yard under a controlled environment to meet Aramco’s offshore durability requirements.

Results & Outcome

Delivered a fully Aramco-compliant coating system across the package, ready for offshore installation.

• Surface profile and salt-contamination targets met across all batches
• Dry film thickness within specification tolerance for every coat
• Holiday testing completed with zero coating defects logged
• Coating system signed off without major non-conformities
• Released on schedule to support McDermott’s offshore installation window
