Expo 2020 – H33 Shade Structure

PROJECT OVERVIEW

ACT undertook pickling and passivation of 3,624 stainless steel strut heads for the H33 Shade Structure project associated with EXPO 2020 Dubai. The work was carried out for Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Middle East (Private) Limited. The scope involved chemical surface treatment of stainless steel structural components to remove fabrication-related contamination and promote corrosion resistance. All treatment activities were undertaken at ACT Yard, Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah.

RESULTS & OUTCOME

The treatment was intended to provide clean, corrosion-resistant stainless steel strut heads suitable for incorporation into the H33 Shade Structure.

  • Pickling and passivation scope covering 3,624 stainless steel strut heads.
  • Removal of surface contamination and fabrication residues.
  • Promotion of the protective passive layer on stainless steel surfaces.
  • Improved surface condition and corrosion resistance.
