PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Discovery Dunes project involved pickling and passivation of fabricated SS316 stainless steel pipe spools for Hydrotronex Trading LLC, associated with DLC DS Developer DWC-LLC. The scope focused on removing fabrication-related surface contamination, weld discoloration and free-iron residues to restore the corrosion-resistant characteristics of the stainless steel. The chemical treatment was undertaken at ACT Yard, Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah.

RESULTS & OUTCOME

The treatment was intended to restore the surface condition of the fabricated SS316 pipe spools and improve their resistance to localized corrosion.

• Removal of weld discoloration and fabrication-related contamination.
• Pickling of affected stainless steel surfaces.
• Passivation to promote formation of the protective chromium oxide layer.
• Improved surface cleanliness and corrosion resistance.
• Preparation of fabricated pipe spools for subsequent installation.
