PROJECT OVERVIEW
Borouge’s ethane cracker expansion at Ruwais is a key element of ADNOC and Borouge’s downstream growth, with Technimont as EPC. ACT was engaged by Metalfab to deliver blasting, priming, hydrocarbon-rated passive fire protection and topcoat application on the structural steel package destined for site. Each member moved through a controlled sequence — abrasive blast to specified profile, primer application, intumescent PFP applied to engineered DFT for the required fire rating, mesh reinforcement at critical zones, and topcoat finish. Members were tagged and inspected at each stage before release to load-out.
RESULTS & OUTCOME
Structural steel for the Borouge ethane cracker delivered to site with a fully certified PFP system installed at the yard.
- DFT achieved per engineering data sheet on every primary and secondary member
- Mesh reinforcement installed at all design-flagged locations
- Topcoat applied with full inter-coat adhesion verified
- QA records and material traceability complete on first sign-off
- Members released in batched sequence to support the site erection schedule
